Debbie Macomber is a great writer of women’s books. And I have read all of them. This book is very depressing, however. It’s about watching someone you love while they slowly die of cancer - who wouldn’t want to read about that?! Not I. Life has enough of it’s real tragedies for me to want to pay to read about fictional ones. I’m sorry, these two sisters are very likeable and the love interest of one, while challenging proves worthwhile. I know the author had a recent heartbreaking loss in her life and I am truly sorry. OK, this was a good book. Not Debbie's best. Throughout most of the book, it felt like a person on the witness stand testifying. There seemed to be a lack of something. In her other books, I wanted to know the characters ...be a member of their families. It was deeply into this book until I felt any empathy with the characters. The only reason why this was true for me is because I have lost two close friends to cancer, and now my beautiful dog has cancer. I don't mean to be critical as I have read all of Debbie's books, but this just wasn't one of her best for me.
