The story it’s interesting. I was hooked from the start, and It has some happy and funny moments that I enjoyed, but it’s also full of angsty and sad situations too. Also, I really don’t like it when a lot of the most important or angsty-est moments occur near the end; leaving me with a lot of unanswered questions and a sadness knot on my throat. I know there’s a second book, and some of those answers are most likely going to be there, I don’t know if I want to continue reading the series. Not because the story is bad but because is just not MY type of book. Given the fact that the main characters have extremely sad backgrounds and live dangerous lives (and I cannot deal with too much sadness and lost in my life, even if it’s fictitious), I don’t think this series is for me. Generally interesting read, with good pacing, but a bit overdramatic (in my opinion).Pros- I liked Gunnar overall, and the secondary characters- The story moves at a good pace. I had some eyeroll moments, but I wouldn't say I was bored at any point.- The arsonist angle was intriguing (but wasn't really explored much in this book. I guess it's meant for subsequent books in the series?)- From a grammar and flow perspective, I thought the writing was decentCons- It definitely strayed into sanctimonious territory at times. - The breathy "I just want to help people" sentiment got old fast for me- The conflict often felt inflated and a little contrived.
